Avira anti virus Update problem FIX!

Avira AntiVir is a good free anti-virus [downlink: http://www.free-av.com/en]. But many users reporting that Avira AntiVir is not Updating properly or they have to do manual update. Well, I am also a Avira user and I have found a FIX regarding Avira's Auto update. It is just a simple trick. All you have to do, is to create a Schedule for Updating Avira in Avira's Scheduler. Here's the how to..

Open Avira AntiVir. On the main window click "Administration" then under it click "Scheduler"
Avira AntiVir

After that click the "insert new job" button. A new window will appear. There you type the name of the job as "Update" then click next. Another Dialog box will appear.

Select the type of the job as "Update job" click next. Another window will appear.

Schedule the job as "Daily" job and fix a time. After selecting there will be an another option that you can tick. That is "Repeat job if time has expired" and tick it. Click next. another window will appear. there Select Display mode as "Maximize". And the final step :), click Finish. You are all done. From now on your Avira will automatically update.

There are some other tips related to Avira.

If you are unable to Update even manually then go to the configuration window of avira and tick the "Expert Mode" ( you will find it at upper left corner of the window). then Expand/click "update">>Expand Web server>>Select Proxy Server and Select "do not use a proxy server". Remember that if you are using any proxy server then manually set it there rather selecting the "do not use a proxy server" option. But do not select "Use Windows system settings". Apply the new settings.

Another tip is about the false positives.

If Avira showing too much false positive then you can set the "Heuristic Scan" at low level.
You can find it at "Guard>Scan>Heuristic". under this Select "Low detection level" on Advance Heuristic Analysis and Detection (AHeAD). Apply the new settings. This will reduce false positive on Avira.

  1. Alternately U can try Avast - far better than avira.

  2. Avast is another good antivirus. But computer geeks prefer Avira than avast because of good virus detection rate and other preferences.
